- Comfortable working with modern historian technologies and operational data solutions.
- Deep expertise with the AVEVA PI System, covering administration, configuration, visualization, and interfaces.
- Familiarity with Power BI, SEEQ, or Canary Historian considered a strong asset.
- Thrive in technical problem-solving with the curiosity to dig into complex client challenges.
- Collaborative by nature, able to work closely with clients and team members.
- Skilled at balancing consistent execution with innovative thinking.
- PI Server administration, including monitoring health, performance tuning, and backup management.
- Configuration and development of advanced analytics with PI Asset Framework.
- Building graphical displays and reports using PI Vision, PI DataLink, and Power BI.
- Configuring and maintaining PI Interfaces and PI Adapters (OPC, RDBMS, Modbus, PerfMon).
- PI System migrations, upgrades, and architecture best practices.
- Experience in a PI Support role or as a System Integrator.
- Custom tool development, scripting, and debugging for PI-based solutions.
- Integration of PI Systems with third-party reporting and enterprise tools.
- Business Intelligence reporting and visualization using Power BI and SEEQ.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure such as VMware, Hyper-V, Active Directory, and Azure.
- An ability to analyze and solve client problems through creative and innovative solutions, often in a pre-sales and post-sales capacity.
What to Expect as a Historian and Business Intelligence Specialist
As a Historian and Business Intelligence Specialist, you will play a critical role in creating and sustaining data environments that our clients rely on to drive operations, insights, and efficiency. Day to day, you will work on both technical delivery and client interaction, combining hands-on configuration with solution design and advisory support.
Other job responsibilities look like:
- Designing, configuring, and managing AVEVA PI System environments across servers, interfaces, and adapters.
- Creating, validating, and optimizing PI points and archives using PI Builder, SMT, and related tools.
- Building and configuring AVEVA PI System clients (PI Vision, PI DataLink) to deliver intuitive and informative dashboards and reports.
- Developing analytics and calculations with PI Asset Framework.
- Developing Event Frames and notifications with PI Asset Framework.
- Administering and monitoring PI System performance, including collectives, SDK logs, and interface reliability.
- Troubleshooting and resolving end-user and technical issues with PI tools.
- Designing, building, testing, and debugging PI-based applications and integrations.
- Supporting AVEVA Connect configuration, implementation, and visualization.
- Providing integration and reporting support using Power BI or SEEQ for business intelligence initiatives.
- Preparing and maintaining technical and end-user documentation, knowledge bases, and system usage guidelines.
- Supporting operational data store designs beyond PI where required.
- Engaging directly with clients on technical and strategic discussions, contributing to both pre-sales and post-sales solution delivery.
- Providing daily operational support for PI infrastructure—including issue tracking, incident response, and root cause investigations.
- Handling PI Server backups, disaster recovery planning, and participation in system recovery exercises.
- Coordinating system patching, upgrades, and testing to maintain compliance and reliability.
- Assisting with capacity planning, performance optimization, and monitoring strategies to ensure PI System scalability.
